Cloth Nappy Review: Bamboo All-in-one nappy
This Mother Nature cloth nappy is a locally-made nappy,
which is great because it means its environmental impact is much lower.
This nappy is a one-size-fits-all (OSFA) nappy, which means
that it should fit a baby from birth to toddler age.
My first impression of the pale blue Mother Nature cloth nappy,
was that it looked quite small in comparison to other brands that I had tried
out. After using it several times on my 12 kg son (16 months old), I realised
that the nappy is larger than it looks, as it still fits him comfortably. I
like the way that it fits, as it has a very snug fit for a cloth nappy, while
still holding a good amount of liquid.
You can tell that the Mother Nature cloth nappies are made
with the utmost care and out of good quality materials. This is a gorgeous
quality nappy.
The nappy is made up of several thin layers, in order to
maximise the dryness on your baby’s bum. The outside cover consists of a
breathable waterproofing which is sandwiched between 2 soft layers of
polyester. This produces a thin, yet durable cover. Stretchy material at the legs and the waist,
gives it a really good fit. It works with a popper system on the cover. For the
little size, you simply pop up the nappy to make it shorter, and then you can
pop it to fit around the tummy.

insert, the waterproof cover & the liners (washed wet wipes )
The Bamboo All-in-one nappy is not a pocket nappy or a flip
nappy (which are types of cloth nappies that I have at home) so it was
interesting to try it out to see how it works.
The cover has an insert that can be attached to it, in order
to absorb as much liquid as possible. This insert is made up of 2 layers of bamboo-cotton
towelling sewn into a closed ‘loop’, which further enhances its absorbency.
Bamboo is 3 times more absorbent than cotton, which is why bamboo inserts are
such a positive in this nappy. Bamboo is also super soft, and wicks moisture
away from the baby’s skin. I have found that it holds liquid well when squished.
So, when your baby flops onto his/her behind, you should not experience any
seepage.
The nappy has 2
poppers along the back top part of the nappy, on the inside of it, which the
bamboo insert is attached to. The insert has 2 poppers along one side, which
must be popped against the cover before use. This is a very clever design to
keep the inner from slipping around in the nappy.
The inner is longer than necessary, however, you simply fold
it over to create the length you require, and it acts as extra absorbency for
your baby. For my toddler, it added an extra fold of cloth in the front of the
nappy for my big boy, but for a newborn baby, it would probably fold completely
in half to fit the smaller size. It’s perfect for a boy, because they tend to
wet the front of the nappy completely, sometimes even leaving the back of it
still dry.
I really like that the bamboo insert attaches to the cover
with poppers, because it means that you can wash it and when you take it out,
the bamboo insert is still attached to the cover. This makes it super easy for
dad to use ;-) He doesn’t need to ‘put together’ the nappy; all it needs is a
liner and it is ready to go. :-)
Thanks to Mother Nature Nappy for giving me a nappy in
exchange for this review. I am keen to add more of these wonderful nappies to
my collection!
